1. My six-year-old daughter does not say the /ra/ sound. She uses /la/ instead. How can I teach her the /ra/ sound?
Mispronunciation or pronunciation error, technically known as misarticulation, is a common speech problem. A Speech Language Pathologist can teach her to produce the /ra/ sound, by conducting the necessary evaluations before starting therapy.
2. My three-year-old son does not say /sa/, whereas my niece of the same age says it correctly. Should I take my son for speech therapy?
If /sa/ is the only sound that your son cannot say, speech therapy is not warranted at this stage. /Sa/ is a sound, which is acquired later than other sounds. You may wait until your son is slightly older.
3. My four-years-old son uses a lot of 'baby talk'. Until now, we thought it was cute, but now we are concerned. Please advice.
There may be several reasons for the continued use of baby talk even at the age of 4 years. One of them may be encouragement of such talk. We need to evaluate your child before suggesting further management.
